Furnace Box

Materials:  oak, aluminium, black suede

Reminiscent of the huge coal furnaces of the early 1900s, this exquisitely formed little box is created from strong quartersawn oak and inlaid with a milled circular aluminium disc at the front. The disc represents a furnace door, and the black suede interior symbolises the coal within the furnace. The Oak Rays dance on the lid top and sides like small flames, protecting the item inside. The box is finished with shellac and wax for a silky smooth finish. We have a limited number of these boxes available for sale in our galleries. You can also purchase them directly from us and can then opt to use for a ring or as a trinket box (please specify which type is required – ring insert or lined only for trinkets). The Furnace Box features in Good Woodworking Magazine – September 2011.
